Biography

Alison Gallico retired in 1998 as Director of Personnel for solicitors Lovells. After a degree in Industrial Sociology at Bath University she spent thirty years in human resource management, working inter alia in the nuclear industry, retailing and in farming, fisheries and forestry. As Personnel Director for Bookers Food Distribution division she was involved with the DTI in the early development and trialling of NVQs. She was an independent adviser on job evaluation and remuneration structures and has lectured on industrial organisation and other HR topics. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Since 2000 Alison has been a Lay Member of the Employment Appeal Tribunal, is a Fellow of Gray’s Inn and a Trustee of the Army Benevolent Fund. Other interests include chairmanship of Mid-Sussex Abbeyfield Society and membership of the Council of Ardingly College. She was a member of the Prison Service Pay Review Body from its inception until 2004; she was appointed to the Armed Forces Pay Review Body in 2005.
