John Steele
Biography
John Steele is a non executive director of ORC Worldwide which is headquartered in New York City and provides human resource management expertise and information to organisations around the globe. He also works as an independent consultant and is a Fellow of the CIPD.
His corporate career of over 40 years, specialising in HR was spent principally with IBM and British Telecommunications, starting with Ford Motor Company and finishing with Accenture as they created one of the first major HR Outsourcing providers following an initial joint venture with BT. As part of his responsibilities as BT's Group Personnel Director he was involved with a number of other private and public organisations which included board membership of Fifty Lessons, AON HR Services, Business in the Community, IIP UK, the Teacher Training Authority, CSR Europe and Internet Designers Limited. He was also a council member of Acas (1999-2005), IMD in Lausanne, the Institute of Employment Studies and the Association of MBA's as well as being a member of the Employers' Steering Group advising the Government on Work Life balance.
As a Governor of Henley Management College from 1995-2006 he became Chairman of the Pension Trustees and successfully managed the transfer of the fund into the Universities Superannuation Scheme. He was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the College in 2008.
