Katrina Easterling
Biography
Katrina combines people and public service interests with an academic role as Programme Leader and Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Leadership at the University of Winchester. She has held a number of External Examiner appointments and is currently External Examiner in HRM at the University of Lincoln.
In addition to her role on the DDRB, she has held a public appointment for the Judicial Appointments Commission since 2004 when she was appointed by the Lord Chancellor's Office as an Independent Panellist for recruitment and selection to judicial appointments.
Katrina's boardroom experience includes a six years' term as a Non Executive Director (NED) on the Executive Board of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD), and as a member of its Audit Committee. She has been an Associate NED for a Primary Care Trust and an HR Director for a FTSE 250 company. Expert roles have included Pension Trustee and Reward Specialist.
Her HR career in the healthcare sector included international roles with responsibility across the UK, Europe and Africa which increased her cultural experience. Working as a Merchant Navy officer for P&O Cruises on ss Canberra, Katrina twice circumnavigated the globe. After a change in regulations allowing women (as well as men) to work at sea, Katrina became one of the first female Seamen Officers to serve on a Royal Naval Reserve warship. She has developed and implemented numerous diversity policies and initiatives within organisations.
Katrina is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD. Amongst her many qualifications, she holds an MSc in HRM and the CIPD's postgraduate qualification in Coaching & Mentoring. She is a frequent writer, speaker and Conference Chair. Her research interests include consultancy-informed teaching and equality in the workplace.
