Dame Patricia Hodgson DBE - Chair






Biography

Dame Patricia Hodgson, DBE, is Principal of Newnham College, Cambridge and Deputy Chair of Ofcom, the UK’s telecoms and broadcasting regulator.

Patricia began her career as a BBC producer and journalist and, from 1993-2000, was main board director in charge of policy, strategy & relations with government. She was Chief Executive of the Independent Television Commission from 2000-2004 and a Member of the BBC Trust between 2006-2011. She has also served as a non-executive director of GCap Media plc.

Patricia was a part-time Member of the Mergers & Monopolies Commission in the late 90s and a non-executive Member of the Competition Commission from 2004-2011. She recently chaired the Higher Education Regulation Review Group and went on to be a Member of the Higher Education Funding Council for England. She has been a Member of the UK’s Statistics Commission, of The Committee for Standards in Public Life and a Trustee of the Wellcome (Medical Research) Trust.
