Professor Stephen Thompson
Biography
Steve Thompson has been a professor at Nottingham University Business School since 2003. He previously held a chair in economics at Leicester University and earlier taught in economics departments or business schools at universities in the UK, Ireland and the USA. He has published over 100 articles and several books on aspects of industrial, labour and managerial economics. His recent publications include work on executive job tenure and remuneration, the impact of mergers and acquisitions on productivity and the demand for labour and competition in electronic markets. He has served terms as chair and deputy chair of the ESRC Network of Industrial Economists, as editor of Managerial and Decision Economics and as a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Industrial Organization. His hobbies include cycling, tennis and witnessing the suffering of Coventry City FC.
